The journey to Funzi Island Tour begins in either Diani or Mombasa. The river Ramisi excursion lasts the entire day.
At 7:30 a.m., we depart from Diani and travel for about forty minutes to Funzi Town, from where we board a boat to the hamlet.
One of the largest baobab trees in the world—it is almost 800 years old—will be visible when we visit the school and the women’s local market.
Following the village tour, we board the boat and head to the “lost paradise,” which is a sandbank with crystal-clear swimming holes that are suitable for both shallow and deep swimming.
This island offers picnic areas and, for an additional fee, kite surfing.

After that, we board a boat to a different island where we have lunch. Lunch is mostly sea food and Swahili food, but if someone has a food allergy, we can request an alternative menu.
We begin our boat excursion into the mangroves after lunch, which is an excellent place to go bird watching because you can see up to 20 different species there. You might be lucky enough to see crocodiles.
